Soludo Pays Last Respects To Late Anambra Former Speaker, Nnebe

Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo was part of dignitaries that attended the funeral ceremony in honour of the fourth Speaker of the state Assembly, Right Honourable Anayo Nnebe who died at age sixty-one.

The funeral ceremony which took place at Saint Paul’s Church, Umuokpu-Awka, was attended by the Deputy Governor, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim, Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Right Honourable Somtochukwu Udeze, National Chairman of APGA, Barrister Slyvester Ezeokenwa, Secretary to the State Government, Professor Solo Chukwulobelu, Head of Service, Barrister Theodora Igwegbe, Principal Secretary to the Governor, Barrister Joachin Anaeto, members of the state Executive Council, Council of knights and ladies, Senator Ben Ndi-Obi, family and friends of the family

While stating that the late Nnebe lived and died in service to the people , Governor Soludo stressed that Nnebe was a major component of achievements of his administration.

The Governor explained that the state free education policy has increased enrolment into public schools to eighteen-point seven percent, as a result of which Anambra is now the least in terms of out of school children, emphasizing that the best way to mourn Right Honourable Nnebe who was part of the evolving revolution in the state, is to deepen his administration’s progressive ideas, particularly on interventions that benefit the poor.

In a Sermon, the Archbishop, Ecclesiastical Province of the Niger and Bishop of Awka, Most Reverend Alexander Ibezim described the late Nnebe as a community leader and politician that was close to home and prayed God to comfort Awka people, especially Umuokpu community.

Most Reverend Ibezim pointed out that everybody will be judged according to his or her deeds because according to him, a day of reckoning is approaching and congratulated Governor Soludo on his second anniversary in office, describing his work in Anambra as solid.

Responding on behalf of the family, Mr. Anayo Nnebe Junior appreciated the Governor, the Archbishop and everyone that identified with them in their moment of grief, praying that God will continue to bless them . ABS
